They sprung into action right away and quickly dried out everything, and then worked to reconstruct and replace what was damaged. The end result looks better than before. I travel for work and was gone mid October. Two days after I left Chicago the City was hit a heavy rains. I have a duplex condo and the entire lower area flooded. My parents when to check in on my place about a week later and walked into a mildewy smell. When they went to the lower level the carpet smelled horrible and it was still soaked in water. Everything was ruined, not sure how much water was there, the plumber said my sump pump could not keep up with the amount of rain, Everything had to be removed, carpet, drywall, insulation, furniture, Everything! Our insurance agent is friends with my parents so he was able to help them file a claim on my behalf, the agent reached out to ServiceMaster by Zaba for the cleaning service. The was so much water damage, by the time ServiceMaster got out there, mold was already forming, I am so thankful that they showed up right away and especially thankful that they communicated the entire time with me and my parents. By the time i was able to fly back , everything in the lower level was gutted out. All the damaged content and furniture was in their warehouse for the insurance company to see, they also helped me document my belongings. This was such a frustrating situation, but the everyone involved was great, my construction is complete and it looks brand new. I decided to give ServiceMaster a call after I realized that every time we took a shower the ceiling would leak in the basement right above the shower. I never noticed it until a really bad smell surfaced and there you go.... a big nasty wet, moldy, smelly mess in an area that was hard to reach. Nothing is ever easy with water damage, our bathroom on the main level needed to be partially gutted out, drywall and the ceiling that was leaking in the basement had to be removed and in order to get to all the affected areas a lot of fixtures had to be removed. I called the right company because they handled everything from the insurance part to the demo and construction. It was a bit frustrating because things like this throw you off schedule but ServiceMaster and the staff were great and really made sure everything moved along and made the process less frustrating.read more

The light bulb in my bedroom closet caught on fire, it was an electrical wiring issue. Short version of the story... small fire, lots of smoke damage. The property management company uses ServiceMaster Restoration by Zaba for emergency disasters, I am glad they have a vendor for these kind of things. Fortunately for me, they were already in the building working on another unit, they came right over. They brought some machines to help alleviate the smell of smoke, my whole place was cleaned from top to bottom, some rooms had to be painted, carpet an upholstery was cleaned the cleaners took all my clothes, lots of work was done. I just want a quick review for ServiceMaster Restoration by Zaba. I had a sink a overflow which caused a good amount of damage to my home, several rooms were affected. A good friend recommended them, they arrived quickly, well prepared, clean equipment, very well groomed, and extremely knowledgeable. I was kept informed regarding the insurance process and all the communication between them and the insurance adjuster. This company is very professional and trustworthy. Last month on a Saturday evening, the North Shore suburbs experienced severe flooding. I unfortunately was a homeowner affected by all the rain water. Wilmette is a flood zone and without the right insurance coverage you are basically screwed. My 3000 sq ft basement was covered in filthy sewer water, my lighter pieces of furniture were floating! I didn't even attempt to clean it up. The water kept rising and it went all the way up to the 3rd step. I quickly looked online and found several informative blogs on a website, I called the company to come out, Service Master by Zaba, fortunately for me they were already serving the Wilmette area and were able to see me in a few hours. Right before they arrived it down poured again and the water was rising even higher. I was done panicking at this point, damage was done. ServiceMaster arrived a few hours later, given how busy they were with all the floods in the area I appreciate they made me a priority as well. I cant go into all the details but in a nutshell, they extracted the water from the carpet which I had to throw out, they removed drywall and insulation, they cleaned sewage residue for a few hours, it smelled awful. There was no way we could've done this on our own. Needless to say my Insurance did not cover a lot of the expenses, we should've made ourselves more familiar with our policy and purchased additional coverage. I am grateful for Service Master I appreciate everything they did for me and also their sympathy towards the loss of all my belongings in the basement, they were terrific and worked within my budget.read more

Got Mold? Well I did! We had a slow leak from one of our appliances and condensation in the basement. We don’t utilize the basement except for storage. We started to get a strong musty smell last month, we did not know where it was coming from so we call ServiceMaster. Luis came with a device to check my walls and found what was causing the smell. I had a huge problem in my utility room. Mold had surfaced to the walls and my walls were wet, you could poke your finger through them. They removed the mold which was not an easy task, The water tank has to be removed to access the drywall so now plumbing was involved, all my baseboards had to be removed, the insulation was no longer pink, it was black. The whole process took about week bur definitely worth it.read more

I operate my business out of a store front in a commercial building that has 3 apartment units above my office. I came into the office one morning, and our ceilings, walls, and floors were all damaged. The second floor apartment had experienced severe water damage that traveled down to my office. I searched through the Skokie Chamber of Commerce directory and found Service Master Restoration by Zaba. We were in need of a clean up from the damage caused by water. ServiceMaster arrived fast. The techs were helpful and professional and got straight to work. After they stabilized the damage we were able to open for business immediately. I experienced a toilet overflow in the upstairs of my house. Water leaked through the ceiling, my ceilings bubbled, my hardwood floors were soaked, my cabinets and carpets were wet, all due to a toilet overflow. I could not believe how much water could come out of a toilet. My 2 year old stuffed the toilet with paper and toys before we left the house that morning and then flushed it and there you go, an overflow! I dont know how long the water was running but it was a huge mess. My husband of course was out of town and I am pregnant. I called the insurance company at 6pm hysterically crying, it was after-hours and all I could do was get a claim number. They referred me to two restoration companies. The first company never answered and did not return my call. I called ServiceMaster Zaba, someone answer right away, Neil came out immediately, he said he has small kids so he understands the urgency, he was very understanding which helped calm me down. However the process was overwhelming because of the water damage. His crew arrived around 8pm and worked until 11pm and came back the next day. They were fast and cleaned up afterwards. I was on the phone the next day with the Service Master office, the girls at the office (Vanessa and Alicia) had already called my insurance company and gave me all the information I needed, they made it real simple for me and I honestly don't think they needed to do all that work on my behalf. I think they extra nice because I am very pregnant but I can see all their staff are great with clients. I wish I could give them more that 5 Stars, they really did an outstanding job. My water supply line to the dishwasher somehow got disconnected while I was running the dishwasher! I loaded the dishwasher before going to bed so I did not notice it until the next morning. I knew immediately it was the dishwasher because it was the only thing running water overnight. I called a plumber he came and fixed the supply line to the dishwasher but he could not do anything about my floors and cabinets. He told me to call ServiceMaster because he works with them all the time. I called and they were booked all day then I received a call back ten minutes later and said someone would be at home in 40 minutes. Joseph arrived on time and immediately placed drying tarps on my floors. This was not going to be a quick fix so I had to call my insurance agent and he helped me make a claim. Joseph had me speak to his office to coordinate with them and the insurance company, which by the way they made it an easy process. They were able to save my floors, but the bottom cabinets had to be removed. The water also traveled to my basement but they were able to dry everything in place without having to remove the walls and ceilings. I am grateful that ServiceMaster was able to see me as quickly as they did and provide services right away. read more

The upstairs neighbor had a tub overflow in their bathroom located right above my master bedroom. Water was pouring out of my ceiling vents and light fixtures, it caused damage to the ceiling, walls and carpet in my master bedroom. Our condo association said to call ServiceMaster by Zaba. Luis came out and did an inspection, he had his crew working within the hours. The ceilings and partial walls were removed, the carpet and padding were also removed. It was not a pleasant situation but ServiceMaster was quick, clean and efficient. The office staff coordinated all the paperwork with the condo association and sent me emails with updates. it was a smooth process considering the big mess caused by neighbor. read more
